We're 1 Week Old!

Daddy got to hold Tanner for the first time tonight

What a moment... Our first family photo!!!

Daddy talking to Tori

Well, the babies are a week old today and it's absolutely amazing the difference just a week has made! They've made incredible progress this first week and it's wonderful to see more and more lines and tubes being taken off of them. They're both completely off of oxygen. Tori no longer has a nasal cannula and as of this evening when we left, Tanner's nasal cannula had been removed to see how he would do without it. They're both beginning to gain weight. Tori is now slightly above her birth weight at 3 pounds, 4.3 ounces and Tanner is almost back up to his birth weight at 3 pounds, 7.6 ounces. They're both digesting well with very little residuals and are receiving Mommy's milk through the feeding tubes in their nose. The nurses started trying to introduce a nipple today for feeds and Tanner did well, taking 10 cc from a bottle, while Tori didn't have any idea what to do with it. The nurse said she took one little suck on it and gave her this look like, "What am I supposed to do with this thing?" She sucks on a pacifier so I'm sure the bottle is not too far behind.

We're just so blessed by how well they are doing and are so happy with the consistently good reports we're getting everyday. They haven't given us an estimate on when they think the babies will be discharged, but with the way they are progressing, it may be sooner than we think! So meanwhile, we're scrambling trying to get everything ready for their homecoming and looking more forward to it every day!!!
